There is Nothing Positive About Effects of Cigarette Smoking
A lot of people today are vaguely aware of the dangerous effects of cigarette smoking, from lung cancer to bronchitis. However, the real truth is that there are a great many parts of one’s body, many members of one’s family, and several aspects of one’s life that are hit hard by the effects of cigarette smoking.
We are all aware of lung cancer and bronchitis. But did you know that smoking cigarettes is the number one contributor to heart attacks also? Did you also know that numerous types of cancers are also thought to be caused by the damaging effects of cigarette smoking, including:
- Liver cancer
- Bladder cancer
- Cancer of the larynx
- Cancer of the throat
- Cancer of the mouth and tongue
- Esophageal cancer
- Cancer of the large intestine
- Cancer of the bloodstream
Cigarettes are not just rolled tobacco, as many people simply think. The tobacco industry purposely adds ingredients in order to increase the addictiveness of tobacco. There are in the region of 4000 chemicals in cigarette smoke, many of them toxic. The ingredients in cigarettes affect everything from the internal functioning of organs to the effectiveness of the body’s immune system. The effects of cigarette smoking are destructive and extensive, covering your entire body from head to toe.
Putting aside your own personal health, have you ever thought about the effects of cigarette smoking on your wallet? Someone who smokes a pack of cigarettes a day will wind up spending over $700 every year. That’s an whole month’s rent, two months worth of groceries, three or four automobile payments, or the cost of a very nice flat-screen television. Not to mention how that money could grow in a nice savings account!
The effects of cigarette smoking also affect those around you as well. Those who are exposed to second-hand smoke inhale about 15% the amount of nicotine as those who are active smokers, so for every ten cigarettes you have around your children, they may as well have smoked one and a half cigarettes themselves. Even pets have been found to suffer from increased health problems due to their owners smoking! Many have respiratory diseases and cancers, all a part of the effects of cigarette smoking.
So if you smoke, it’s time to quit. It’s time to think about how bad this habit really is, how it really affects your life and the lives of those around you. There are absolutely no health benefits, there is no upside, and there is nothing positive about the effects of cigarette smoking.

there are to positives from smoking. 1 is its a stress reducer (yah i know your going to pull some fact out “actully it reduces this chemical in your brain and causes more stress yada yada yada”) but in reality for many people it does relive some stress for most people. 2. There is a strong study that suggest that smoking curbs alzteimers. 3. the tobbacco industry is 50000+ jobs in the US. Not to mention all the added nurses, doctors, truck drivers, ect. that are needed. 4.Is a question and that is why do you want to live so damn long? what is so great about dying at 86? a smoker could die at hell ill say 45 which is definitly on the early side of the average smoker. Whats so bad about dying then? I think after 55-65 forget it why live then. Im a smoker always will be and if i get lung cancer then good i dont need to make living a contest. (hey lets also keep in mind that more then 65% of smokers dont die from smoking realated illnesses. Have fun in your long smokeless life or hell could be short too life is fickle. P.S. smoking also curbs your appitite which is good at stoping public enemy number one obesity.

If you read up on the statistics for smokers, it’s not as bad as “they” would have you believe. I am not advocating smoking as it is still one way to decrease your health risks. 10% of smokers will get lung cancer and only 50% of lung cancer patients were ever smokers. Smoking increases your risk of heart disease by 6-8 percent - eating at McDonald’s once a week probably increases your health risk at least as much. I don’t mind that people are worried about other people’s health, but you must understand the facts before you pass information to others.

There are alot of worse things people do than smoke! I’m not saying it’s good for you but, I lived in a large city for 23 years and Don’t tell me that city living is good for anyone it is far worse than smoking! everyone has driven in traffic with the windows up and got caught behind a bus and the fumes that enter your vehicle are unreal! But people will argue it’s different But, In reality it’s worse. I am willing to bet that a person who lives in the country and smokes a pack a day will out live 70% of people who live thier whole lives in a major city and don’t smoke (Ny, LA,Ect..) The people who complain about smoking should do some research on this and go after the government but we would never get the truth so it’s a moot point. My father never smoked a day in his life and died at the age of 64 now my grandfater smoked more then a pack a day and live to 86. Why is that you anti smokers? The way I see it we all will die we can’t avoid it but we can avoid idiots who complain about every little thing. Have a pleasent day and enjoy that fast food lunch people! that can’t be bad for you right? or is it worse.
